Steve Still, on seeing a pet shop in tatters as he made his way through the high street, decided to pursue his love of exotic animals, and venture to buy the place.

Two years on, not only was Steve the owner of the business, but he had opened up another branch in nearby Gillingham, Medway. 

With business going from strength-to-strength, Steve embarked on a novel idea - to host pet parties! 

According to Steve, he was not just "the first" in Kent to start a business around pet parties, but the first to work professionally with exotic reptiles in the county, generally. 

Fifteen years ago, Steve again proved his passion for exotic animals when he began lecturing at MidKent College, Maidstone, teaching young people skills in exotic-animal husbandry, business ownership and how to navigate through the pet-trade.

Now, Steve has expanded the pet party business to cater for entertainment at holiday parks and charity functions - and very often travels through Europe, searching for ever more exciting species for him to share with others.

As Steve puts it: "It's the chance to have a business that's a hobby."
