Steve is not merely worried about lack of staff - but the pet industry, generally. With more people purchasing from big-brand stores, small suppliers are slowly diminishing. 

In addition, Steve also has great concern over the future of species of reptile in the UK - the British lizard and adder for instance. 

Though their numbers are not "too bleak" according to Steve, the expansion of housing on green belt land is sure to have an impact on their numbers.
